To mark the prestigious association with Formula 1™, Luxury Swiss watch brand Hublot has released its first Official Formula One watch – the F1™ King Power. As a result of many weeks of close collaboration between Hublot and Formula One Management, the F1™ King Power features one-of-a-kind design to epitomise the cutting-edge technology, high performance, glamour and precision of the sport itself.

The new watch was launched several days ago in the Shanghai World Financial Centre at a glamorous press conference. Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver personally unveiled the watch at the event and expressed his full expectation of the F1™ King Power to be sold out like hot cakes.

The exceptional chronograph is presented in a 48mm-diameter satin-finished Zirconium case, coupled with a special Zirconium and ceramic bezel which resembles a Formula One car brake assembly. Treated in black nickel, the distinctive multi-layered dial is completed with micro-blasted and rhodium plated hands. The design of the signature chronograph pushers have been suggested by the buttons and functions featured on a present-day Formula One steering wheel.

The movement is unknown as the company has not unveiled the full specifications of the watch. The strap boasts a supremely comfortable rubber on the inside and a special Nomex outer layer, the material widely applied in the racing suits of Formula One drivers.

Hublot is certainly not the most prestigious luxury watch maker in the world. But no one can deny it is one of the companies which understand popularity and publicity best of all. As one of the most benevolent watchmaking companies, Hublot is teaming up with the legendary group Depeche Mode to support a charity concert on 17 February 2010, which will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust, an organization set up to help young cancer sufferers in terms of treatment, research, education, family support and specialist diagnosis (www.teenagecancertrust.org).

Depeche Mode, one of the most influential bands in the international electropop field, is trying the best for its first ever concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The band’s members are looking forward to the prospect. It is the cause they have chosen to support rather than the prestigious venue that makes the band full of confidence.

To celebrate this special occasion, in collaboration with the popular band, Swiss watch maker Hulot is making 12 exceptional watches, each of which will have one of Depeche Mode’s album covers on the dial. The watches will most likely be auctioned off as a set at the beginning of February, so this is a one-off opportunity for those intentional people. All proceeds will be donated to the forementioned organization.

On behalf of the band, Martin L. Gore declares:” As big fans of Hublot, we’re happy to be collaborating with them on such an important cause. We’re all honored to have these 12 unique pieces created by Hublot and are grateful that it will be in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust.” On the side of Hublot, its CEO Jean-Claude Biver thought that they felt proud and privileged to have made these twelve unique pieces which would be a ideal reflect for the “fusion” between the spirit and sound of the music of Depeche Mode and the vibrations of 450 years of Swiss Watch Making Art.

This Monday, the new Hublot limited edition Bode Bang watch has been launched through a celebrity tennis match at Sutton East Tennis Club in New York City. In the presence of the legendary champion of the skiing world, the new watch is a collaborative project between the well-known watchmaker Hublot and 4-time World Champion skier Bode Miller.

Bode Miller, the bad boy of skiing, and world champion in all disciplines in 2008, now owns a Big Bang named after him. The partnership between the famous watchmaking brand and the legendary champion started at the moment, when the Bode Miller visited the Hublot’s workshops for a photo shoot for the Kjus catalogue. Fascinated by the brand’s advanced technologies and craftsmen’s skills, Bode Miller decided to create his own timepiece.

Jean-Claude Biver, the CEO of Hublot, appreciated the immediate mutual understanding, resulting from the meeting with Bode Miller. It is easy for both passionate, direct men to find a host of shared values. Through their involvement in supporting humanitarian causes, the talented, feisty and determined skier, and the inventive, exceptionally energetic boss both demonstrate great generosity.

Bode Miller and his family started The Turtle Ridge Foundation in 2005. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting health, diversity, and sustainable living through sports. After the forementioned Hublot “Tennis Fusion” Celebrity Challenge, Bode led a basic tennis clinic with 50+ kids and then, on behalf of Hublot and The Turtle Ridge Foundation, donated $10,000 to the organization. In addition, Jean-Claude Biver and Bode Miller decided to donate some of the profits, raised from the sale of the Bode Bang watch to the Turtle Ridge Foundation.

As with the watch itself, the 44.5mm case, sculptured in sandblasted black ceramic, continues the classic “Big Bang” style. Secured by 6 H-shaped steel black PVD-treated screws, the bezel is niftily crafted from the same material with the watch case. The Bode Bang timepiece features a white dial, which embraces black nickel applique indices and numerals. It leads to a strong visual contrast, when the faceted matt black hands and shiny black numerals, as well as a a trapezoid date window at 4:30, are put together against the bold white background. Bode Miller’s signature is proudly marked at 9:00, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal is used to protect the dial. Powering this significant timepiece is an automatic HUB4100 mechanical chronograph movement. The “Bode Bang” watch is 100-meter water-resistant and offers a 42-hour power reserve.
